leica x1
after many many years, I finally purchased a german-made Leica. I sold all of my nikon gear, the d7000 body, the various lenses and goodies. I am thoroughly happy with one fixed lens – one perfect shot. I do like having an optical viewfinder but I found the Leica model a bit cheap and hard to look through. the voigtlander 35mm I ended up getting is crisp and very bright – it is a pleasure to look through. I have had the camera a week now and could not be happier with the performance. with the x1 and my d-lux 5 together – I can get just about every shot and some hd video when needed.
from the leica website:
The Leica Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH.
Countless iconic images in the history of photography were shot with a fixed focal length of 35 mm. This focal length is considered to be a classic for reportage photography, and has lost none of its timeless charisma today. The Leica Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH. is a true Leica lens with terrific optical performance. When seen in terms of 35-mm film format, it has precisely this legendary focal length of 35 mm.
